I relished the sample chapters
Hugely disappointed I can't purchase (
"Unscripted" is a fabulous historical account of Hollywood and the people who made the town and the industry famous. I consider myself an expert of sorts on Hollywood history, movies and celebrities, but most of the information in the book I had previously been unaware of. I spent most of my time reading it with a highlighter in hand, marking important passages that I wanted to study further. A fascinating, well-researched read!
The book is great and well researched, but seems to have been edited and proofread by a six year with a learning disability. The writer and publisher should know better. Poor sentence structure and messed up wording throughout.
I wanted to love this book, but it suffers from terrible editing that I just couldn't get beyond. I was bored with the content and annoyed with the editing, so I abandoned it about two chapters in.
I've been a big fan of E.J. Fleming ever since he wrote a terrific biography of Carole Landis. Of course I was very excited when I found out he wrote a new book and I was not disappointed. Unscripted is a fun, easy to read book filled with juicy stories from the golden age of Hollywood. My favorite chapter is about forgotten stars - wonderful stories about some people who deserve to be remembered. Loved it and recommend it to all film fans!!!
